A short break in Cambridge

The start of 2014 was very significant for both of us, after around 8 years living in the Netherlands it was time to move on, our destination Leicestershire, England. After packing up our house we travelled across staying one night in the gorgeous Belgian city of Ghent before taking a Euro Shuttle across to Folkstone.

Gorgeous Ghent
After a quick 25 minutes across to Folkestone our next port of call was the lovely university city of Cambridge. We stayed overnight in the Doubletree by Hilton hotel, which I have to say was very nice. It's location is very handy for seeing the city and with ample parking it is hassle free. Our welcome at the reception was quite unique. On arrival we were handed a paper bag with two freshly baked chocolate cookies just out of the oven, they were delicious!

As we arrived in Cambridge mid afternoon and had to leave relatively early the following morning, we dumped our bags and set off to see what we could of this historic city before it got dark. Hopefully the following photos will give you an idea of what is in store for you in Cambridge.

Sadly with so little time to explore the city we didn't really get a chance to fully enjoy all that Cambridge has to offer. The good thing is that its only a couple of hours from where we now live in the East Midands so we can pop back and explore it fully.

As darkness ascended temperature dropped we decided it was time for food and we walked back towards the hotel and The Anchor Pub where we had a great meal before getting ready for our shortish trip to Leicestershire the next morning and Moving Day Part 2.
